Crestron Xio Cloud Platform: Updates 1.54 and 1.55

Jan. 12, 2024 - There’s a truism about software products: They can never stand still. That’s the case with the Crestron XiO Cloud® technology operations management platform, which integrates with Crestron devices and third-party products. The software allows any organization to configure and manage those devices (and the systems they create) from a central, secure location — so the platform is constantly evolving.

The XiO Cloud platform saw two updates in late 2023 (versions 1.54 and 1.55), including device support for USB switchers USB-SW-200 and USB-SW-400, support for DM Lite® transmitters and receivers, new features for Crestron Desk Scheduling solutions including more language options and calendar credentials, more connected manufacturers (including NEC, ViewSonic, and Vivitek), new features for managing rooms in the XiO Cloud platform, and adjustments to the user experience.

Version 1.54 of the XiO Cloud Platform includes:

Support for USB Switchers

The USB-SW-200 and USB-SW-400 are multi-input USB 3.2 Data Matrix Switchers that provide a plug-and-play, point-to-point solution for quickly connecting and sharing USB devices. The devices allow you to easily route USB data from the six device USB ports to two or four host devices, as the model names suggest.

Support for DM Lite Transmitters and Receivers

Crestron’s DM Lite® technology solutions include sets of paired transmitters and receivers that enable the extension of HDMI® or Displayport™ over USB-C® AV signals along with USB 2.0 data. These combinations of devices are especially useful in applications where an AV source is located remotely from its destination, such as a display, projector, or codec solution.

New Features for Crestron Desk Scheduling Solutions

Desk Scheduling solutions, including the Crestron Desk Touch and the Crestron Desk Q, are some of the most popular new lines of devices Crestron unveiled at the InfoComm® 2023 trade show. Simply put, they allow hybrid workers to find and book desk space when they come into the office, as well as provide management with occupancy data. More language options and calendar credentials have been added to these solutions as part of the 1.54 software update, making them useful in more countries and compatible with a broader range of third-party scheduling programs.

Version 1.55 of the XiO Cloud Platform includes:

Support for Several New Manufacturers

Crestron understands that integration with third-party solutions is an absolute must as specifiers find the perfect custom systems for their organization. That’s why we’re constantly adding support for an ever-expanding list of manufacturers. With version 1.55 of the software, the solution now expands to include support for a broad range of devices from NEC, Vivitek, and ViewSonic that connect directly to the Crestron XiO Cloud platform.

New Features for Managing Rooms in the XiO Cloud Platform

In addition to the management, control, and creation of data summaries of buildings and individual desks, all that functionality and data is available for rooms. This update allows you to configure and view rooms right from the start as you deploy the software and then see a comprehensive report of all the info you’ll need for a specific space, including:

  • A device list with info on model and serial numbers, addresses, and application mode.
  • Occupancy and maintenance status, including info on online status and firmware versions.
  • Metadata, including info that lets you quickly identify a room’s building and floor location.

Improvements to the User Experience

We’re constantly tweaking the look and feel of the platform, ensuring that control and management of the solution becomes ever more intuitive. In this update, that includes adding the ability to adjust the “tree width” of nested folders and room controls so that it’s easier to see all your data in larger deployments.

The Crestron XiO Cloud technology operations management platform is updated roughly every four to six weeks — at no additional charge to the user. Every update is driven by internal research and feedback from the field — it’s part of the reason Crestron values our dealer network so much.
