Epiphan Announces HDMI audio, 60 FPS support for DVI2USB 3.0 Epiphan Systems has announced that DVI2USB 3.0, the most versatile frame grabber in its product line, now captures Full HD video at 60 frames per second (FPS) and supports simultaneous capture of embedded HDMI audio. This brings performance which is typically only available using internal capture cards in dedicated systems to the much more convenient and versatile world of external frame grabbers.

DVI2USB 3.0 is a versatile, high performance frame grabber that performs lossless capture of Full HD video (1920×1200/1920×1080) from HDMI, DVI, or VGA over a USB 3.0 interface. Regardless of whether the source signal is from a video camera, computer display, iPad/tablet, conferencing system, or industrial/medical instrumentation, the DVI2USB 3.0 can capture it for recording or streaming using virtually any computer or laptop.

DVI2USB 3.0 works seamlessly with 3rd party applications such as Windows Media Encoder, Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder or VLC. Using these and other popular applications customers can select a YUV 4:2:0 color format to enable capture of Full HD video at 60 FPS. RGB to YUV color format conversion including Chroma?subsampling is performed in the DVI2USB 3.0 hardware to ensure maximum performance and quality. Audio captured from HDMI signals remains digitally encoded and kept in perfect synchronization with the accompanying HDMI video, taking full advantage of the inherent noise immunity of digital signals and eliminating any introduction of lip synch issues in the capture process.

By adding support for 60 FPS Full HD video capture and dual?channel/stereo HDMI audio, DVI2USB 3.0, the benchmark capture device for professional, industrial, and precision video solutions, is capable of meeting the requirements for even the most demanding applications. Capturing video at 60 FPS and simultaneously capturing the accompanying digital audio ensures that your captured data is as life like as the original signal. “For cameras and computer displays 1080p is now the resolution of choice ? that’s Full HD at 60 frames per second. Capturing at 60 FPS, DVI2USB 3.0 is performing frame?by?frame capture of a 1080p signal resulting in captured video which is every bit as smooth and fluid as the original source. This level of quality can be critical for certain applications such as medicine, aerospace, and forensic evidence capture, but the benefits of capturing video content in its highest possible quality are realized in nearly every application from security to education”, says David Kirk, Director of Product Management.
